Autumn is nearly here and we have some great events to help pass those dark evenings.
- Monday 14th September: N16 Readers and Writers Network host their annual ‘Desert Island Books’. This year author Sophie Hannah, crime writer extraordinaire and the woman behind the newest Poirot mystery The Monogram Murders, will be in the hot seat with Maggie Hamand. Actress Jane Wymark will be thrilling the audience with extracts from the chosen books. £2.50 entry. 8pm
- Thursday 17th September: Author Ben Aitken will be launching his book Dear Bill Bryson. Funded entirely by Kickstarter (and a Buzzfeed featured’Best Kickstarter Campaigns of 2015), Ben retraced Bill Bryson’s journey around Britain in Notes From A Small Island, separating fact from fiction and taking a comic look at how things have changed. Featured in ‘The Times’, it is a great introduction to all things Bryson and a new British author on the block. 8pm
- Saturday 10th October: It’s the launch of the annual ‘Books Are My Bag’ day, celebrating independent bookshops across the UK! This year’s limited edition tote bags, on sale in store from the 10th, are designed by artist Grayson Perry and will definitely not disappoint. We are extremely excited to welcome the Dalston-based Puck Collective, whose amazing vinyl and paper artists will be taking over our windows for one day only to create displays worthy of such an important occasion for independent bookshops. Pop by the shop to see art-in-action as our windows take shape. We have a few more exciting surprises planned so we will keep you posted!
We have lots more events in the pipeline so keep an eye on the website for more information.
